Xasthur (acoustic): Xasthur is a band that thrives on taking risks. From its early days of bleak and disturbing black metal up until the confrontational and dark acoustic folk blues music of today, it has always been a musical project that has been keeping people guessing. Xasthur started in 1996 through Scott Conner’s desire to express the negativity in life to listeners. Over the span of a decade, he released 8 albums and dozens of other releases through labels like Hydra Head Records. After putting the band to rest in 2010, Scott decided to change his musical style from black metal to acoustic folk and blues music and went on to start Nocturnal Poisoning. After a few years, Scott revived the Xasthur name in May of 2015 and now has a full band that comprises of vocalist and second guitarist Christopher Hernandez and bassist Rachel. This new reinvention of the band plays in the same vein of the style that was established with Nocturnal Poisoning. Xasthur’s music today can be described as a fingerpicked barrage of notes with varying moods and tempos. From the faster songs that paint pictures of urban desperation to the slower songs that mold into moments of solitude and depression, Xasthur is a band that keeps audiences locked into a dreary state of mind that will not let go until long after the music has stopped playing. With songs that confront drug abusers, homelessness, and the misery of city life, Xasthur’s music reminds us that the real nightmares are the ones we experience in everyday life.
Johanna Warren: Johanna Warren crafts powerful songs in unusual time signatures with melancholic open tunings, weaving adept finger-picking with lilting, acrobatic vocal lines and potent poetry. An intuitively self-taught guitarist and classically trained flute player, Warren's writing draws from the depths of the human experience, alchemizing life's darkest moments into offerings of radiant beauty. Warren and her close collaborator, engineer/co-producer Bella Blasko, arrange and play nearly everything on their recordings, from piano, woodwinds and percussion to ambient soundscapes created with found objects. Although Warren has lent her vocal talents to artists like Iron & Wine, Natalie Merchant, and Jesca Hoop, she is a songwriter first and foremost, paying homage through her life's work to her personal saviors Joni Mitchell, Elliott Smith, and Nick Drake.

Junius // InAeona 04/19/17
Junius: "A perfect hybrid of Neurosis and the Smiths, striking a stunning balance of brutality and beauty. Spellbinding and heartbreaking, gripping from the first note to the last. A hard rock dream come true." -Rolling Stone
InAeona: Descending from a spark of light comes the spellbinding trio inAeona, whose sound combines heartfelt melodies, emotionally stirring post-metal and spacey, industrial undertones. Consisting of vocalist/guitarist Bridge, bassist Dave and drummer James, the group hails from the heart of Boston. Combining their shared passions for music and creativity, the trio began playing local shows with an elaborate light show to accent their haunting tones and give audiences unique and intense live experiences. The trio soon hit the road on a self-booked tour playing anywhere and everywhere possible while showcasing their self-released debut EP "Blue Sky All Day," which featured artwork from longtime friend, Junius guitarist Michael Repasch-Nieves. Described as having "the bombastic theatricality of Muse with the vastness of Russian Circles gently mixed with the ferocity of Helms Alee" (Bloody Disgusting), the band gained a passionate following of supporters as they connected with audiences across the country. Eventually, inAeona caught the eye of Prosthetic Records, who asked the band appear on a 2014 label showcase alongside Junius and So Hideous. After a stunning performance at Brooklyn's famed Saint Vitus Bar, the label agreed to release their forthcoming debut full-length "Force Rise the Sun" internationally. Bridge describes "Force Rise the Sun" as "ultimately a sad but beautiful love story of loss and change, of the universe and ourselves, of being elated to be here but knowing it will all go away, and trying to love better and closer in the time we all have." While the rising sun is often connected to feelings of hope and fresh starts, it can also be a symbol of passing time, and as such, the title represents their urgent fight to exist and strive as a band.
The Sideshow Prophets: The Sideshow Prophets are a 7 piece Punk Rock Rhythm-n- Blues band from the heart of Philadelphia. This veteran septet pulls influences from all over the musical map twisting the jump rhythm-n-blues of the 40's, the rebel rock-n-roll of the 50's, the sweet soul sound of the 60's and the punk attitude of the 70's into an intoxicating wall-o-sound. A soul-siren and a whiskey soaked gravel blend for dual vocals as if Tina dumped Ike and hooked up with Howlin' Wolf only to adopt the bastard children of the MG's and the MC5 as their own. Their ferocious live set has torn up stages for over 17 years and is sure to leave you shaken and lusting for more.
Sheena & thee Nosebleeds: The angelic voice of The Baptist Preachers meets the hellfire and brimstone rock n' roll of Thee Nosebleeds.
The Prisoners: THE PRISONERS: "INDEPENDENTLY OWNED AND OPERATED SINCE 1990" !
King Buffalo: "King Buffalo is a psychedelic trio in the classic format of bass, drums, and guitar, whose expansive and thunderous music is anything but easily definable. Formed by three long-standing members of the blooming Rochester, NY rock scene, King Buffalo gathered in September of 2013 to start working on a new musical collaboration in a heavy rock vein. Their efforts spawned a demo release and several splits and one-offs which, coupled with their impressive live show, quickly gained them an international audience. Nearly exactly three years after their formation, King Buffalo shows the world its first long-player creation – a powerful concoction of heavy psych, blues, and stoner rock in stunning cohesion. Orion's flow is surprising giving the relative youth of the band, but King Buffalo seems to be a rare breed capable of fusing loose-knit and spacious pieces into a tightly-focused package. Written during and out of jam sessions, Orion’s nine tracks are texturally rich and oozing with psychedelic goodness, yet honed and driving in the next blink of an eye. Lush, shimmering melodies á la Dead Meadow and free-flowing grooves that recall All Them Witches meet with the full force of fuzzed-out stoner rock riffs, all coinciding organically. impressively, King Buffalo’s focus extends beyond composition and into the technical realm; Orion was recorded entirely by the band in the very same rehearsal room that played host to the songs' creation. After a successful self-release, Stickman Records is proud to present Orion to the world on 180 gram vinyl including CD as well as a standalone CD release." - via Sludgelord

Magic Deal : Magic Deal is a three piece band from Philadelphia in the standard form: groovin' bass, squawky guitar riffage & pummeling drums. Formed in 2015 by three longtime friends and basement rippers Carly Tim and Pete as a complement to contemporary aging and that great universal urge of unintelligible expression. Their pseudo-proto-post-punk jams are reasonably in tune and ready to go. Friends say they bring to mind great bands of the mid-1980's SST roster, opponents find them unappealing to look at and even worse to listen to. Loud 'n cloudy.
